I made this piece over two sunny mornings in late October, looking down on the bend in the South River as it flows through a patch of conserved meadow in our town. I love the view of the bright green meadow through the trees and the blue, blue water of the river in the sun. As is typical for me over the past few years I worked with a putty knife and palette knife to depict the areas of color as I saw them. The most fun was putting in the leaves over everything at the end!

This is a view from the trail near the South River Meadow in Conway. I painted on a cloudy day in March, the first day warm enough for me to be out painting. This piece was made entirely using a putty knife (it’s a bit unweildy so it keeps me from getting too fussy.
