Barn with Forsythia

I come back to this barn again and again…the shadow of the roof is always striking. On this sunny April day the forysthia was in full bloom and I loved painting big areas of pure color: red, yellow, green. As always when I paint with oils outdoors I use a putty knife and palette knife—no brushes. It keeps clean up minimal and helps to prevent fussiness.
