This old dairy barn has been empty for decades but still stands large and imposing in my neighbor’s back yard. I wonder what will become of it, and if one day it will be used again. Because of a bank of trees and a steep embankment at the narrow road I was never able to paint it until I found a spot in a neighbor’s hay field I could stand and get a partial view. I made this painting at sunset and worked fast because it was a wet spring and mosquitos were everywhere. I loved the effect of the light on the sides of the red barn.
