This part of town is known as Pumpkin Hollow because, according to stories, farmers used to grow pumpkins on all the hills surrounding the lowlands, and they would sometimes roll down the hills into the flat space between. I love the name because it’s evocative of a time just out of reach, and I love Pumpkin Hollow because it’s so darned beautiful. The hill that slopes down to this field is a fantastic sledding hill in winter!
